This wine is composed of Zweigelt and Merlot. The blend is often half-&-half, but depending on the vintage and degree of ripeness, one of the two varieties could also predominate. The cuvée is matured in small wooden casks, where it can rest for at least a year. Compared to our Zweigelt, it is softer, more velvety and a touch warmer, thanks to the Merlot. In the nose, Gerrat shows deep, dark fruit and hints of sweet spices, while on the palate one can taste the concentrated flavours of dark cherries and ripe plums, leading to a finish that is long and spicy.
