A few years later, the DAC vineyard classification regulations were issued, and since then the vineyard has been called Geppling and is located in the Kamptal. But that\u2019s just how it is with boundaries that are drawn\u2014they don\u2019t always fit\u2026 Regardless, we vinify a typical, spicy, and very full-bodied Veltliner from the grapes of this vineyard.<br\/>The Geppling lies on a thick layer of loess and is the last vineyard terrace below the Gobelsberg Plateau. The vineyards face southeast, so they bask in the sun early in the morning and are in the shade early in the evening\u2014ideal conditions for white wines. The vines are a good 50 years old\u2014old, gnarled vines that are very vigorous and healthy, delivering perfectly sound grapes for the harvest every vintage.<br\/>The wine\u2019s appeal lies in its playful lightness combined with elegance and ripe acidity. The nose reveals ripe yellow fruits, and the palate offers a pleasant, lively dance.
