The presentation of high-quality 1ÖTW wines at Grafenegg Castle in September is a tradition. Once again, we are represented as an ÖTW winery with our two winery lines and are presenting our four Erste Lagen wines – Riesling Moosburgerin 1ÖTW, Grüner Veltliner Vordernberg 1ÖTW, Riesling Marthal 1ÖTW, and Grüner Veltliner Gebling 1ÖTW.

A Matter of Time
Why are these wines presented so late? Wines from the best vineyards are generally more complex and need more time to develop their full potential. The longer maturation in the wine cellar (in barrels or bottles) allows the aromas and structure of the wine to develop harmoniously. Early marketing would not give these wines a chance to show their unique character and the depth of their terroir.
3 x 2023, 1 x 2024
In recent years, we have begun to give our 1ÖTW wines even more time to mature. This is because we have found that some wines need not just one, but two years to reach their peak. That is why we will be presenting the Grüner Veltliner Vordernberg 2023 for the first time in September. And that is why we are allowing our two Rieslings, Ried Moosburgerin from the Buchegger winery and Ried Marthal from the Vorspannhof Mayr, to mature in the bottle for a year longer for the first time – 2023 will therefore remain the current vintage for Rieslings, with 2024 only being presented in September next year. The Grüner Veltliner Ried Gebling 2024, on the other hand, already shows great potential and is very enjoyable to drink, so it can be bottled and sold now.
